Dear Mrs. Rosenstock,

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your son, Barry.
I only learned of Barry’s passing in March, when I tried to contact him at his office and learned what had happened. Barry and I were good friends in Japan for more than 14 years. We first met as colleagues working for different state offices in Tokyo. Over the years, we hiked together in Japan on several occasions and shared an interest in listening to high-end audio equipment. I can tell you that no one loved trekking in the mountains of Japan more than Barry. It was his passion. You should be very, very proud of what your son accomplished in his life. Through his work in the Peace Corps and later as an economic development professional for the State of Ohio, Barry made a real difference in the lives of thousands of ordinary people in Ohio, Korea, Japan, and beyond. His mastery of two of the world’s most difficult languages--Korean and Japanese-- was extraordinary. His great love of life, unique sense of humor (what a great laugh he had!), generosity, and humility touched everyone who met him. It was a privilege to have known Barry and I’ll never forget him.

Very sorry to hear of Barry's passing. He was always a class act. I enjoyed learning about Japan and international business when he visited Albany and met with Milne classmates. My condolences to the family, Helen G.

Annette, Carl, and Meri:

Stu and I were shocked and saddened to learn of Barry's untimely passing. As you know, Barry and I went through Hebrew school and Milne together, and in recent years we renewed our friendship by meeting for lunch when he was in Albany (always at a delicatessen since he was unable to get good "deli" in Japan). We always enjoyed the wonderful sense of humor he retained since his high school days.

Both Stu and I hope that good memories will help you through this difficult time. We are so sorry for your loss.
