Obituary of Marylinne Rita Kaskel
Marylinne Kaskel of Glenmont, NY passed away
peacefully at home on Wednesday December 3rd, 2008
surrounded by her loving family. Born in Manhattan, NY on April 1st, 1927. She was the daughter of Harriet Solomon, Richard Robertson and the adopted daughter of Jerome Solomon all of New York City.
In her life of excellence Marylinne was educated at The Julia Richmond School in Manhattan and also attended City College of New York. After college, Marylinne was employed as an account executive of the Peter Sichel Wine Import Agency of New York City. After Marylinne and Stewart were joined in matrimony, Stewart and Marylinne spent time in Washington, D.C. to complete Stewart's Oral Surgery training. They then immediately moved to Albany, Stewart's home town to start a family.
During Marylinne's wonderful life which began with "Time to Rise and Shine" she was also an accomplished bowler and avid golfer at the Shaker Ridge Country Club for more than 40 years. Marylinne was also a long time member of the Chippers and Putters golf league and the Women's 9 and 18 hole golf leagues. Also an avid Gin Rummy and Mah Jong player who even won a game or two occasionally, Marylinne's other 2 favorite hobbies were gourmet cooking and reading both fiction and non fiction novels. Marylinne was also a long time member of Hadassah and the Congregation of Beth Emeth. Marylinne spent numerous years as a family taxi driver insuring that all 3 sons made countless basketball, baseball and football games along with never being late for Hebrew School. Marylinne also spent many years making sure her three sons, husband and grandchildren were well cared for and had all the comforts of a loving home.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Dr. Stewart A., 3 Loving children, Rick (Melissa), Ira and Dean (Lorrie), and her brother Ron (Diana) Solomon, (niece Heather), Pre-Deceased Brother David, sister in law Judy (nephew Michael) and a very loving group of grandchildren Justin, Miriam, Matthew, Ashley, Zachary, Carl, Jacquelyn and Jaime..
Services at Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road, Albany on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. followed by interment in the Beth Emeth Cemetery on Turner Lane in Loudonville, N.Y.
If one wishes to celebrate her life, a contribution in her memory, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to the Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205. The period of mourning will be observed at the Kaskel residence, on Sunday following the service of interment.
