Obituary of Sara Cohen

Sara "Shirley" Meisel Cohen was born on July 31, 1909 in New York City and died November 22, 2008in Tucson, Arizona. She was predeacesed by her husband of 65 years, Samuel T. Cohen (Tom), her five sisters, Rose Berman, Anne Goldstein, Beatrice Stillman, Pearl Cohn and Lillian Alpart, her daughters-in-law Joan Cohen (Maxim) and Rose Jeanne Cohen (Lawrence). Shirley worked in the children's section of the Albany Public Library form 1927 until she married and moved to Troy. In 1963 she returned to work in the New York State Deptartment of Motor Vehicles until she retired in 1974. She is survived by her two sons, Lawrence J. Cohen and Maxim N. Cohen (Jonnie), five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and countless nieces and newphews. In lieu of flowers the family contributions may be made to Temple Beth El, 411 Hoosick Street, Troy N.Y. 12180. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday November 26, 2008 at the Temple Beth El Cemetery, Belle Avenue, Troy, N.Y..
