I was a student of Dr.Cohen and enjoyed seeing her plays in the Capital District for many years. Her courage and intellectual contribution will ever be a personal inspiration to me. Her cleverness, patience and humor will forever pay tribute to her.

My condolences to Gary and the rest of the family. I had the privilege of working with Sarah in her script about Danny Kaye, and previously on other projects. It was an insiration to work with someone so devoted to theater and producing her creations. Wish I'd heard the sad news in time to attend her memorial service. My heartfelt sorrow on learning of Sarah's passing. As an actor who has appeared in several of Sarah's plays, and performances she directed of other works, it was a pleasure, a privilege and an honor to know someone so passionately devoted to her craft and her vision. She could also be quite funny and was ever insightful. I am sorry I did not hear of her death in time to sit shivah with her family. Though I doubt they would remember me, I felt in some way a part of her literary kin. Godspeed, Sarah.

Although many years separate me from my time as a student in Dr. Cohen's class, seeing that she had passed away and reading about her life, - well, it made me pause and refect on this amazing woman that I crossed paths with so many years ago.

Even back then, her strength was nothing short of amazing and her mind was nothing short of brilliant. The one piece of my own writing that I kept from all those years ago is the final project from her class. She compelled me to dig deep within myself, come to terms with - and eventually tell my own personal story. Reading her handwritten comments in the margin still brings me great joy and a tremendous amount of pride.

The world has lost an amazing person. One that I may not have thought about recently, but one who forever changed me - for the better. I would like her family to know that she not only left her mark on this world - but in the heart of this particular student.

Wishing you all peace and comfort at this time.

Many thanks to Sarah for sending such fine authors to SUNY Press over the years. As a series editor, she made great contributions to both the Press and to Jewish literature. You will be missed!
