Obituary of Hilda Fenyo

Albany, NY FENYO Hilda Fenyo, of Albany, New York since May of 2000 at Atria Assisted Living Residence on Northern Boulevard and Shaker Road, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 into eternal life of her soul and spirit after death in this world. It happened on Tuesday November 4, 2008 at exactly noon, at The Community Hospice of St. Peter's Health Care Services, Albany, New York. She was predeceased by her father Alexander Fenyo and her mother Mary Rosenblum Fenyo, her sister Martha Fenyo Burack, her brother Otto Fenyo, and her sister Ariadne-Yolanda Fenyo Kendris. She was born on September 5, 1915 in the Bronx, New York and most of her life she lived in Jamaica, Queens, New York and in New York City. She attended public schools, maintained Honors in her public high school years and in her senior year was awarded the English and Latin prizes. She followed a course of study in the late afternoon and evenings at Columbia University in the City of New York. She is survived by her brother-in-law Dr. Christopher Kendris; two nephews, Alexander Kendris ( his wife, Tina) and Dr. Theodore Kendris ( his wife, Francesca); four grandnephews, Bryan, Daniel, Matthew, and Andrew Kendris; and one grandniece, Sophia Kendris. For many years, Hilda was a Senior Court Reporter at the Supreme Court in New York City, a retired New York State employee. She was an accomplished pianist of classical music, a 1943 graduate of the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. In the 1960's, she performed piano concerts at Town Hall Concert Hall, other concert halls, and the New York Flute Club. On the piano, she also accompanied the famous flutist, John Wummer, who was principal flutist of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. There were no calling hours. Private funeral services for the family only were provided by Levine Memorial Chapel, Inc., 649 Washington Avenue, Albany, New York. A Rabbi performed the service at her request, and she was entombed next to her sister Yolanda Fenyo Kendris in the interdenominational Mausoleum of Graceland Cemetery, 680 Delaware Avenue, Albany, New York. Memorial donations may be made in her name to your favorite charity, or to the Juilliard School of Music in New York City, or to the New York Flute Club in New York City.
