BELL
Louis Bell, age 79 of Walden Fields Drive in Delmar, NY died on Sunday evening November 2, 2008 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany surrounded by his loving family. Louis was born in the Bronx and resided for several years in Hudson, NY later moving to Cleveland, Ohio. He had been a Capital District resident since 1963. He had been a partner of Port Scrap Iron at the Port of Albany and was retired. Mr. Bell was a member of Temple Israel in Albany, the Albany Jewish War Veterans Post # 105 and had been a member and Past Master of the Hudson Masonic Lodge. He was a Korean War Veteran and was the recipient of a bronze star and a purple heart.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Rita Sheber Bell, 2 beloved daughters, Nancy Bell and her husband Eli Taub of Halfmoon, NY and Amy Cohen and her husband David of Albany, NY. Brother of Lee Bell and his wife Winifred of Pittsfield, Massachusetts and Florida and Elizabeth Kohn of South Carolina. Grandfather of Michael (Renee) Cohen, Jennifer Taub and Julie and Shawn Snyder. Great grandfather of Ezra Taub. Mr. Bell also leaves many loving and caring nieces and nephews and a special and devoted cousin, Stanley Galkin and his wife Marci of Maryland. He also leaves loving family friends, Mildred and Howard Topper of Hudson , NY , Arthur Koweek also of Hudson , Elaine and David Richter of Delmar and Judy and Howard Roth of Loudonville, NY.
Mr. Bell's family would also like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Dr.s "R"and Mehdi and all the oncology nurses at the Veterans Administration Medical Center as well as Marion and Nancy, oncology nurses on the palliative care unit at the VA as well as a special thank you to Shirley Street and Tess of the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.
Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue Albany on Tuesday November 4, 2008 at 11:30am. Interment will follow in the Temple Israel Cemetery in Guilderland, NY. The period of mourning will be observed at the Bell residence 81 Walden Fields Drive in Delmar, NY on Tuesday following the service and continuing through Thursday.
