Obituary of Katherine Riesner

Katherine Fenster Riesner "Kaki" passed away peacefully on September 5th 2008, surrounded by her loving and devoted children and grandchildren. Katherine was the loving mother of Barbara Monaghan, Julia Knight, and William Riesner, and the grandmother to Alexandra and Max Knight and Michael and Megan Riesner. She was a devoted mother-in-law to Bill Monaghan, Barry Knight and Sandra Riesner, and aunt and very close friend to Nancy and Bill Fibiger and Maryann Hensley. Born and raised in Albany, New York, Katherine was the daughter of Phillip and Julia Fenster and step daughter of Lillian Fenster. and sister of Albert and Norman Fenster. Katherine was a graduate of St Agnes High School and Wheelock College, where she studied early childhood education. She taught nursery school and was one of the founders of Head Start and the White Plains Day Care Association. She spent much time bringing awareness of children with special needs and disabilities. Katherine spent many years in Westchester, NY. volunteering countless hours to Student Advocacy and the United Way. Katherine returned to her roots in Albany in 1998 where she was close again to her friends and family. She was member of the of Temple Beth Emeth Sisterhood in Albany. She left behind a great number of dear friends who will miss her dearly. For the last 30 years she was a well respected breeder of Pembroke Welsh Corgies. Including a number of Champion dogs and a Westminster Champion. She owned a number of Corgies during this period and they were an important part of her life. There will be an annual memorial service at the Beth Emeth Cemetery, Turner Lane, Loudonville on Sunday October 5, 2008 at 11:00 AM where the family will be in attendance. Following the annual service Katherine's memorial service will be held in the Mendleson Chapel on the grounds of the Beth Emeth Cemetery at 11:45 AM. Friends and relatives are respectifully invited to attend.
