Obituary of Marvin Glazier
GLAZIER
Marvin Glazier, age 77, of Slingerlands, NY and Delray Beach, FL, died suddenly on August 21, 2008 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. He was the son of Harry and Esther Coplon Glazier. Marv was born in Albany, NY and raised in Troy, NY. He graduated from Troy High School and honorably served his country in the U.S. navy during the Korean War. Marv was the former owner of Safe- Guard Maintenance Supplies for over 30 years where he never missed an opportunity to tell a joke or cultivate a friendship. He loved playing tennis or lunching with his buddies and enjoyed spending time with his fellow Funny Club members. He was a member of Ohav Shalom Synagogue in Albany NY and a past President. He was also a member of the Independent Benevolent Society in Albany.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Addie (Wasserman) Glazier, a daughter, Rona Wilker and her husband Michael of Guilderland, NY, a daughter Wendy Barton and husband Ralph of Binghamton, NY and a granddaughter Melissa Wilker, who was the apple of his eye. He is also survived by a sister, Rosalind Togut ( Stanley) of Boca Raton, FL and three special nephews, Alan Friedman ( Beth) of West Hartford, CT, Billy
( Debbie ) of Madison, CT and Jason Friedman ( Elizabeth) of Port St. Lucie, FL, and their families.
Services will be held at Congregation Ohav Shalom New Krumkill Road in Albany on Sunday August 24, 2008 at 12:00pm. Interment will follow services in the Independent Benevolent Cemetery, Fuller Road, Guilderland. The period of mourning will be observed at the home of Michael and Rona Wilker, 628 Vanderlyn Lane, Slingerlands, NY on Sunday following the funeral service, and Monday and Tuesday evenings.
