Obituary of Dorothy Darvin

Dorothy Darvin, age 96, passed away peacefully on July, 25, 2014. Raised and educated in Baltimore, Maryland, Dorothy moved with her husband (Leonard Darvin, deceased) in the early 1940s to New York City and later to Queens, New York, which remained her home for most of her life. She enjoyed the excitement of city life and took full advantage of the theatre, opera and other cultural opportunities. She worked for Klinger Scientific in Garden City, Long Island, NY for 37 years and was its president for many of those years. After retirement, she was an active volunteer, especially for the New York Public Library. She traveled to Europe on many occasions throughout her life for business and pleasure. Dorothy enjoyed and embraced a very good, long, productive, and fulfilling life among loving family and friends. She leaves behind two daughters: Marcia Spada (husband Eugene Spada) and Iris Darvin: two grandchildren, Justine Spada and Eugene Spada, II (wife (Kimberly Spada) and two great grandchildren, Eugene Spada III and Emily Spada. She is survived by one of her sisters, Gertrude Sucoll, and brother-in-law, Leonard Roffman, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the administration and staff of Clare Bridge of Niskayuna, NY and the Teresian House of Albany, NY, for the superlative and loving care they gave Dorothy over a number of years . A remembrance of Dorothy will be held on August 16th, 1pm at the Chapel at Memory Gardens, Colonie, NY.
