Obituary of Joseph Barry Carr
Joseph Barry Carr, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 21, 2014 from a sudden heart attack in his home.
Joseph was born in Albany, NY and was the devoted son of the late Benjamin and Edythe Carr. He graduated from The Albany Academy, earned his bachelor's degree from The University of Rochester, and his law degree from Albany Law School, where he was an editor of the Law Review and graduated cum laude.
Joseph practiced law up until the end of his life, rising to managing partner at McClung, Peters & Simon, then moving over to Couch White LLP, and finally Rowlands & LeBrou PLLC. Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served a tour in Vietnam.
Joe's interests ran deep. He was a lover of food and drink, an avid reader, and most of all, an obsessive golfer. Joe was most often to be found on the links of Schuyler Meadows Club, where he was a member for 30 years, and is noted for his contributions to the lexicon of golf scatology.
Joseph had a great number of friends and family, whom he cherished dearly. He is survived by his loving sons, Aaron and John, his devoted daughter Sarah, and his sister Phyllis Brenowitz. Joseph also leaves behind his beloved partner of 15 years, Laurie Allen.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be sent to the American Heart Association of Albany.
