Obituary of Jeffrey H. Goldfarb
Jeffrey H. Goldfarb DDS, passed away peacefully at home on June 1, 2014, surrounded by close family.
Born to Leo and Adele Goldfarb on January 21, 1950, Jeff was raised in Fresh Meadows, NY and graduated from Jamaica High School, in Queens, NY. An exceptional student, he was also a state champion sprinter on the track team. He graduated cum laude from the University of Buffalo with his Bachelors of Arts degree. In 1978 he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from UB and completed his oral surgery residency at Buffalo General Hospital. Jeff practiced oral surgery in Oneonta, NY and Norwich, NY until 2002. He retired after becoming permanently disabled with a traumatic brain injury. Jeff always appreciated the opportunity to practice his profession in a rural setting and loved his community. He served with dedication on various organizations. He was a past president of both the Tri-County Dental Society and Sixth District Dental Society. Jeff also served on the Board of Governors for New York State.
Prior to his disability, Jeff was an avid outdoorsman enjoying the pleasures of hiking, biking, canoeing and skiing. In 2006, Jeff's wish to live in his beloved Adirondack Mountains came to fruition when he and his wife relocated to Adirondack, NY on Schroon Lake. He was content to enjoy the walking paths through the woods and gardens on his property and the beautiful scenery of the surrounding area. Jeff will always be remembered for his fun-loving personality, sense of humor and quick wit. He was happiest when he got a big smile or laugh from one of his jokes.
Jeff is survived by his mother of Fresh Meadows, NY; his devoted friend and wife of 35 years, Moira Goldfarb; his children, Lara (Jeremy) Meyers, Joseph, Anna and Jacqueline (Alex); his grandchildren, Zoey and Jeremy Meyers; his siblings, Stephanie (Charles) Bills and Alec (Sherry) Goldfarb; his niece, Jasmine (Benny) Friehof and grandniece, Sofia Friehof.
Services will be held at the Levine Memorial Chapel located at: 649 Washington Avenue Albany, NY on Friday June 6, 2014 at 12 pm. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to call at the chapel from 11:00am to 12 pm. Those wishing to remember Jeff in a special way may make a memorial contribution to:
