Obituary of Ruth Kaplan
Ruth Kaplan (Choch) born August 29, 1923, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2014 after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Anna Swire and Samuel Sacklow. She was the beloved wife of the late Julius (Jules) Kaplan for 60 years. She was predeceased by her late sister, Dorothy Seidenberg (Frank). Ruth is survived by her loving son, Stephen Kaplan, and daughters, Beth Amitai and Lauren Kaplan- Rieger ( Steven). She is also survived by grandsons, Aron Amitai and Neil Fontecchio and step grandson, Morris Rieger (Shani) and great grandson, Harel. She is also survived by her beloved niece, Sandra Kronick and her husband Barry and many beloved nieces and nephews. Also she leaves behind her precious cat, Woozy who gave her many years of joy. During World War II she worked for the war effort at Caterpillar Tractor Company. Ruth was a devoted Hebrew School teacher at Congregation Agudat Achim for 25 years. She was a dedicated employee at Macy's for 23 years. She also volunteered for the Jewish Federation and Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home. She loved to travel with her husband and together they fulfilled a lifetime dream of visiting the State of Israel. Ruth was always proud of her Jewish heritage and loved all things Yiddish. Ruth was a remarkable woman and a true woman of valor leaving behind many precious friends and relatives.
Funeral services and burial will be held graveside at the Independent Benevolent Society Cemetery on Fuller Road, Albany on May 15 at 2:30pm.
