Obituary of Anne Paktor
Anne Smuckler Paktor formerly of Glenwood Blvd., Schenectady, New York, more recently from The Massry Residence in Albany, New York, passed away in her sleep Friday, April 25, 2014 from natural causes. Born February 5, 1914 in New York City, to the late William and Mollie Hertzman, she grew up in Nassau and East
Schodack. Anne moved to Schenectady when she married the late Harold Smuckler.
They were married for over 38 years until his passing in 1973. In 1976 she married Reverend Simon Paktor of Agudat Achim who passed away in 2003. She was a life member of Hadassah, Brandies, Nation Council of Jewish Women and her very cherished synagogue, Congregation Agudat Achim where she was the first woman elected to the board of directors and remained an active member her entire life.
She was predeceased by her brothers Meyer (Ruth) of Albany, Abraham (Jeanne) of Schenectady, Morris of East Schodack, Joseph (Gussie) of Schenectady and Harry Hertzman of East Schodack and her sister, Shirley (William) Winig of Albany.
She is survived by her daughter Rochelle (Paul) Riven of Menands and Boynton Beach, Florida, Myra (Eugene) Kaplan of Houston, Texas, four grandchildren Michael Kaplan, MD (Julie), Bonnie Schultz (Steven), Jonathan Riven (Francesca) and Melissa Mirabile, five great-grandchildren, Casey and Jesse Mirabile, JoAnna Riven, Garrett and Morgan Kaplan, a cousin, Mary Nachison of Albany, sister-in-law Mae Hertzman of East Schodack and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Congregation Agudat Achim, 2117 Union Street, Schenectady at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 27, 2014. Interment will follow in Agudat Achim Cemetery, Schemerhorn Road, Rotterdam, NY. A period of mourning will be observed at Congregation Agudat Achim,2117 Union Street, Schenectady at evening services Sunday at 6 p.m.,Monday at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday at 7 a.m and 7 p.m.. There will be a Rosh Chodesh Service on Wednesday at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday
and 7 p.m.. There will be a Roch Chodesh Service On Wednesday at 6:50 a.m..
