Obituary of Eleanor Barnet Oppenheimer

Eleanor Barnet Oppenheimer, born May 16, 1919 in New York City, a resident of Boca Raton, Fl. and formerly of Albany, NY, died March 27, 2014 She was the beloved and devoted wife of David E. Oppenheimer and was predeceased by her first husband, Henry B. Barnet, Jr. She was the daughter of Carlotta and Laurence Gunst. Surviving her are two sons, Henry B. Barnet, III (Barbara) of Boca Raton, FL and Thomas G. Barnet (Joan) of Spartanburg, SC; step-children, Trudy Oppenheimer, David A. Oppenheimer (Elise) and John Oppenheimer (Johanna); grandchildren, Peter Barnet(Nicole) and Alan Barnet (Soojin); five step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Mary and William Barnet, II and is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Carol B. Fuchs (Alan), William Barnet, III (Valerie), Laurence G. Barnet (Wendy), and Sally Lusk. Mrs. Oppenheimer was a graduate of Julia Richman High School and Skidmore College. Throughout her life she was devoted to her near and extended families and civically engaged in the communities in which she resided. Private services will be held on Wednesday April 2, 2014. at the Beth Emeth Cemetery, Loudionville, NY to be followed by a memorial service at 12 noon at Congregation Beth Emeth,100 Academy Road Albany, NY.
