Obituary of William Rosenblum
William (Bill) Rosenblum, 80 of Albany NY died Wednesday, February 12, 2014 after a brief illness surrounded by family.
Bill was born in Cohoes to Julius and Grace Rosenblum on December 4, 1933. Bill was raised in Cohoes and was a graduate of Siena College. He worked for the Social Security Administration for 40 years retiring as Assistant District Manager of the Albany Area office.
Bill was always active in many community organizations and willing to help out whenever needed. He served as past President of B'nai B'rith as well as a board member of B'nai B'rith Parkview Apartments in Albany. Bill was also an active member and volunteer of the Albany Jewish Community Center. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons. Bill was a long time member and volunteer at Temple Israel in Albany.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Doris of 53 years who he met at a summer concert in Tanglewood MA. Bill and Doris returned to Tanglewood through the years with friends and family due to the special place it held in their heart. Bill loved to travel and share his stories with his children and grandchildren. While Bill and Doris were raising their children they took special family vacations including boating and camping on Lake George, beaches in NJ and Cape Cod, and ski trips to Vermont. Later Bill enjoyed cruises with Doris and some special cruises with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Doris, Bill leaves behind his three sons and their wives, Jay and Adrienne of Glenmont NY; Michael and Joan of Tampa FL; Alan and Sharon of Delmar NY. His grandchildren, who he looked forward to spending time with or just hearing about their day, meant the world to him; Alyssa, Gabrielle, Ari, Jessica, Andrew, Jason, Jacob, Leo, and Ethan. He also leaves behind his brother Charles (Suzanne) Rosenblum and his sister Reeva Nowitz, both of whom he was close with through all the years.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 1:00pm at Temple Israel, 600 New Scotland Ave. Albany, NY. Interment, Temple Israel Cemetery. A period of mourning will be held at the home of Doris Rosenblum from Sunday through Thursday at 7:00pm.
