Obituary of Stanley Borzykowski
Albany, New York
Stanley Borzykowski, age 104 of Albany passed away peacefully on January 21st at his residence. Born in Czestochowa, Poland, Stanley and his late wife Brenda came to Albany in 1949. He had remained an Albany resident for 65 years where they raised their only son, Morton. Stanley was a Polish POW for 5 years during World War II. For the past 57 years, right up to his passing, Stanley was the owner and manager of Danker Village in Albany. He retired from his job on his 104th birthday. Stanley never took a day off for vacation. He enjoyed the time spent with his friends at the health club at the Albany Jewish Community Center and was a former member of Congregation Ohav Shalom and the Lions Club.
Stanley was married to Brenda Futerko Borzykowski, a holocaust survivor until her passing in 1994. He is survived by his loving son, Morton and his loving daughter in law, Lynne Borzykowski. Cherished grandfather of Ross and his wife Rebecca, Marc and his wife Jennifer and Steven Borzykowski. Loving great grandfather of Levi, Ezra and Ariella. He is also survived by his niece, Ruth Schneider and her husband Jerry, his nephew, Avi Fuchs and his wife, Anat, as well as his dearest friend, Wilma Cadan and his wonderful caregiver, Eva Cox.Stanley will long be remembered for his dedication to his family and his work.
Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue Albany on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 11:00am. Interment will follow in the Workmen's Circle Cemetery in Guilderland, NY. The period of mourning will be observed at the home of Morton and Lynne Borzykowski, 24 Catherine Street in Delmar on Sunday following the service of interment and on Monday. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Stanley in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the Holocaust Museum, 100 Raoul Wallenberg Place SW, Washington, DC, 20024-2126.
