Obituary of Sylvia Goodcoff
Sylvia Goodcoff, "Bubby", passed away peacefully on Sunday December 15 at the Wesley Community in Saratoga Springs.
Sylvia was the wife of the late Harold Goodcoff and loving mother to David and Cherrie Goodcoff of Clifton Park and Amy Kaufman of La Quinta, Ca. She was the best "Bubby" in the world to Adam, Leah and Jordan.
Sylvia will be remembered for the generous and unconditional love she gave her family. She taught us well that family is most important in life. Sylvia's infectious smile and big heart won over everyone she met. Sylvia was the youngest of four sisters and one brother and was the last surviving member. She was the only one born in the United States. She was born on December 1, 1930 the daughter of Isadore and Clara Medwed. After growing up in Brooklyn she lived in Tappan, NY most of her adult life. She was the executive secretary to the Director of Rockland Psychiatric Center for many years before retiring to Delray Beach, Florida. She moved back to New York over 4 years ago to be closer to her family and resided at Wynwood Assistive Living in Niskayuna, NY.
The family would like to express sincere and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Michael Gardner and Dr. Harry Odabashian for their expert and tender care they provided when she needed it most. Thank you also to the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's hospital. Sylvia's last days were spent under the loving care of the staff of the Wesley Community and Hospice of Saratoga. The exceptional care she was given and the tenderness they showed to her and her family made the last few weeks more comfortable for everyone.
A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Ararat Cemetery in Lindenhurst, NY on Tuesday, December 17. The family will be receiving friends at the Goodcoff home on Wednesday and Thursday between 5pm and 9pm, both days. Those wishing to remember Sylvia may make a donation to The Wesley Community, 131 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, 12866 or the Hospice of Saratoga.
