Obituary of Nettie Lissak
Nettie Lissak, 99 years old, passed away peacefully on December 1 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home in Albany, NY after a long, full life. A native of NYC, she married Saul Lissak, a WWII veteran, in the Bronx where they raised their children on Walton Avenue near Yankee Stadium. Nettie, proud to be a NYC resident, later moved to Co-Op City where she lived independently for 35 years.
Nettie worked for the NYC public school system at PS 31 and then at the NYS Unemployment offices at Burke Avenue, both in the Bronx. She graduated from Lehman College at the age of 65 with a B.A. in Sociology. Nettie was a long-term participant in the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Longenity and Longevity Genes Project.
Nettie's love for her entire family was boundless. She is predeceased by her husband Saul Lissak (1915-1962), her sisters Florence and Jeanette and brother Daniel and their respective spouses. She is survived by her daughter Ruth Sharples (Winston Sharples, Jr.) and son Bill Lissak (Anna Maria Piccolo) of East Greenbush, NY; 3 step-grandchildren, 1 niece, 3 nephews, and many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
