Obituary of Izak Giwerc

Izak Giwerc, age 85 of Albany, NY died on Tuesday evening, November 19, 2013 at St Peter's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Poland, Mr. Giwerc was a holocaust survivor and had been an Albany resident for more than 50 years. Izak was the President of Bronco Development and was one of the leading home builders in the Capital District, having built as many as 1000 new homes including Elm Estates in the Town of Bethlehem. He was a member of Congregation Beth Abraham Jacob in Albany and was a former board member. He had a great love for the synagogue and was instrumental in overseeing the grounds at the synagogue. He was a self educated man and avid reader. He also enjoyed. traveling. Izak will be remembered for his great love and devotion to his family and was a cherished grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Henryka Meth Giwerc, Devoted father of David (Marla Young) Giwerc of Slingerlands, NY and Ralph Willner Giwerc (Gail Willner- Giwerc) of Saratoga Springs, NY He also leaves 2 brothers, Harry Giwerc of Paris, France and Louie Jordan of Long Island as well as 3 sisters, Hinda Kaisman of Lakewood, New Jersey, Rose Kalichman of Teaneck, NJ and Chana Uncyk of Long Island, all survivors of the holocaust. Cherished grandfather of Daniel Benjamin Young Giwerc, Michelle Young Giwerc, Molly Willner- Giwerc, Sara Willner- Giwerc and Max Willner- Giwerc. Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue Albany, NY on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 9:30am. Interment will follow in the Beth Abraham Jacob Cemetery, Fuller Road, Guilderland, NY. The period of mourning will be observed at the home of Rita Giwerc, 49 Marsdale Street Albany , NY 12208 on Friday from 11:30-2:30pm Shivah will commence again on Saturday at 7:00pm., November 23rd. Those wishing to remember Izak in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
