Obituary of Lilian K. Swartz

Lilian K. Swartz, 89 formerly of West Yarmouth, Mass. died peacefully on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the Hospice Inn in Albany. She was the beloved wife of 66 years of Eli A. Swartz, and the mother of Phyllis Hillinger and her husband Stephen of Delmar, NY; and Janet Swartz and her husband Bud O' Leary of Andover, Mass. She leaves her brother Gerald M. Kadish , of Brookline, Mass; four nephews and eight great -nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Arnold and her parents Sarah and Philip Kadish. Grandma Lili was adored by five grandchildren., Daniel, Suzanne, Marni, Seth ( and his wife Annie), Alex ( and his wife Sierra) and two great -grandsons Leo and Calvin. A woman of many talents, Lilian combined homemaking with meaningful work. She was an executive secretary for the superintendant of schools in Hull, Mass; Temple Beth Shalom in Hull, and the Cape Cod Synagogue in Hyannis . In addition to her wise counsel, she was known for her baking skills her knitting ability , gifting more than 500 infant sweater sets which continue to warm babies all over the USA. She was a lifelong member of Hadassah and an officer of Cape Cod Synagogue's Sisterhood. Donations in Lilian's memory can be made to The Cape Cod Synagogue , 145 Winter Street, Hyannis , MA 02601, or The Community Hospice of Albany, 295 Valley View Blvd. Renssealer, NY 12144. The family wishes to especially thank Lilian's Hospice nurse, Terry Clark, her aides Barbara Harrington, Tesa Bowers and Karina Luna for the loving care, as well as the staff of St. Peter's Hospice and Lilian's special doctors Jeffrey Perkins and David Wolinsky The funeral was held at Cape Cod Synagogue with interment at Sharon Memorial Park in Sharon, Mass.
