Obituary of Norman Sanford Leibowitz

Norman S. Leibowitz, age 66 of Delmar, NY died on Monday morning, November 4, 2013 at his residence. Born in Albany, NY, Norman was a Capital District resident most of his life. He worked in real estate management and development for many years in upstate New York and New England. Norman enjoyed cooking for his family, starting new business ventures and telling great stories. He attended SUNY Plattsburgh and the New School, worked as an actor in New York City and also raised thoroughbreds for several years. Norman was united in marriage to Deborah Kirsch in 1980 which ended in divorce. He was united in marriage to Pamela O'Neill Leibowitz in 1994. Other survivors include a son, Alex Leibowitz (Larissa) of Chicago, Illinois, a stepson, Samuel Guarino of Buffalo, NY, a brother, Dr. Eugene Leibowitz (Augusta) of Pittsfield, Massachusetts and a sister, Dr. Gloria Kass (David) of Port Washington, NY. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and two grandchildren. Norman was preceded in death by a son, Jesse Leibowitz, his mother, Fay Leibowitz and his father, Morris Leibowitz. Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue, Albany, NY on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 1:00pm. Interment will follow in the Ohav Shalom Cemetery on Church Road in Guilderland, NY. The period of mourning will be observed at the Leibowitz residence, 32 Crestwood Lane, Delmar, NY on Wednesday and Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Those wishing to remember Norman in a special way may make a memorial contribution to Saratoga Hospital, Medical Oncology for Survivorship, 211 Church Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
