Obituary of Suzanne Rosenthal

L Suzanne C. Rosenthal passed away on Sunday October 27th after a short illness. She was 91. Born in Worcester Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Harry and Aida Cohen who predeceased her. She spent most of her life in Albany having moved here from Brooklyn NY when she was in elementary school. She graduated from the Albany Academy for Girls and Skidmore College. She was a devoted and committed volunteer, spending much of life involved in community and civic activities including leadership roles in the Beth Emeth Sisterhood, Brandeis Women, Hadassah and the Mothers' Associations of both the Boys and Girls Academy. For the last 33 years she has been a devoted volunteer at the Albany Memorial Hospital. She was an avid baker and knitter and will be remembered for her wonderful cookies and hand-knit sweaters. She was married to Leonard Rosenthal who predeceased her. She is survived by her son, Yakov Rosenthal and his wife Tzivia Chaya, her daughter Amy Holloway and her husband Frank, her nine grandchildren, and her twelve great grandchildren. She was laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Beth Tephilah Cemetery in Troy. A celebration of her life is scheduled at Beverwyck on Tuesday October 29th at 3 pm. Donations may be made in her memory to the Memorial Hospital Volunteer Program. The period of mourning will be observed on Tuesday, October 29th throughout the day and evening and on Wednesday at 40 Autumn Drive Apt 242 in Slingerlands, NY. The period of mourning will continue in Brooklyn, NY at the Rosenthal residence, 1346 Carroll Street.
