Obituary of Lena Strong

Lena (Lee) Weinholz Strong, 97, died Sunday afternoon, October 20, 2013 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany. She was the wife of Elihu Strong who died Sept. 22, 1988 and daughter of Benjamin and Bertha Weinholtz. Lee was the sister of Marian Patashnick of Albany, Celia Nelson, formerly of Binghamton, Irving Weinholtz of California, and Max Weinholtz of Albany, all deceased. She was also predeceased by a nephew, Harold Weinholtz. She is survived by four nephews and six nieces whom she loved dearly and who loved her in return. They are Arnold Patashnick (Sally) of Albany, Melvyn Patashnick (Helenmarie) of Morrisville, Vt., Harvey Patashnick (Dorothy) of Voorheesville, NY, and Michael Schenkel of Guilderland , Elaine Rapaport of Vestal, NY, Sandra Horvath (Rudy) of Albany, Arlene Sahr (Ronald) of Clifton Park, Gail Nelson of Cincinnati, OH., Thelma Weinholtz of California and Sheila Mears of Albany Sister-in- law of Leah Schenkel of Albany.. She is also survived by her beloved dog "Missy", whom she adopted from the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. Lee always loved animals, especially dogs. A lifelong resident of Albany, Mrs. Strong was employed for many years at the New York State Department of Corrections. Services at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the chapel on the grounds of the Independent Benevolent Cemetery on Fuller Road in Albany.
