Ed was our local Walter chronkite. A Brit friend of my late husband and mine called my husband “a lovely man”. He was indeed a lovely man. That enjoyed a toke on his deck makes me love him even more .
Godspeed lovely man!

Dear Donna, Rebecca, Thomas, Harris, Stephanie, Josh, Tucker, Henry, Charlie, Farrah, and Max,
We accept our condolences. Ed was an incredible human being and journalist. The entire Capital Region was blessed by his presence as an brilliant, incisive and dedicated journalist and TV anchor. Current events have proved the importance of a free press to which he dedicated his life. We were fortunate to be neighbors with your family for brief period of time. I have treasured memories of stopping by and having serious conversations with Ed. He was brilliant— a true Renaissance man. We appreciate Rebecca’s accepting the challenge of taking care of our challenging boys. We are glad that Ed had the pleasure of having six grandchildren in the area. And Katie must have provided joy and solace. Donna, we cannot imagine your grief. He was devoted to you and you to him. You must feel as if your heart and ribs have been cut out. And Rebecca and Harris, you were blessed to have him as a father and grandfather to your children. Stopping the cycle of abuse is a giant accomplishment. He was an incredible role model. We are sorry that Ed suffered so. May he find respite from pain, free to have his mind roam. May you keep his legacy alive. We need people like Ed more than ever. His memory Is an inspiration for us all. Leslie Neustadt and Gary Kronick

I was born in 1962. Grew up with your dad, never met him. Just saw him on t.v good part of my life. True professional. After reading his obituary his legacy lives on greater in his family life. Funny you remember people in you upbringing you know and have never met. Had to post to the family to say sorry for your loss. If someone said his name I would say " that's the guy that used to be on the news"...but he is greater than that ! God Bless. JIm Walsh

So sad to hear of the loss of this wonderful man. I remember our trip to the Whitehouse Rose Garden in 1991 to receive the All America City award.
I was the city photographer during those years. Ed was always gracious and fun to visit with. He will be dearly missed. Highest respect to Ed's family.
Sincerely,

I will always remember the conversations we had, getting to know someone who I watched on TV as a kid and not be disappointed by the real man was a great experience. Ed was as good a person as I have met in my life, I'm glad to have played at least a small part in his life and to be able to get to know him and the family, I am happy to know he is at peace now

Donna, on behalf of my kids and my whole family, please accept my sincere condolences. From literally the day I was born, Ed was a role model for me, showing me what it meant to hold the powerful accountable and making me love communications and the world of journalism. I was one of thousands of young people who grew up watching him and admiring him, and it was it large part because of his work that I went first into radio as a teenager in Gloversville and later into the teaching of communications as a college professor in Watertown and Herkimer and now in Tampa, FL for the past 30 years. Please know that Ed's life and work made a huge difference in my life and the lives of my students. I will always remember him. God bless you and your family.

I was SO sorry to hear of Ed's passing. While on the air, I sent him an email with my opinion regarding a story, his response was heartwarming, funny and educational ~ just like Ed. We went on to correspond about different stories until he retired. He was a kind soul, with a passion for this community. It is because of Ed that I remain loyal to New Channel13. God speed my friend.

Ed, my brother-in-law, was truly a brother. We were all so young when Larry and I first met Donna and Ed (well, Ed was Larry's brother). Warmth and intelligence exuded from this couple as we became lifelong friends. Losing Ed is hard, but he is free of pain after so much suffering. He leaves the world a far better place wherever he touched it and asked a question.

Please accept my condolences on the loss of your husband and father. Ed was a friend and mentor to whom I owe a great debt of gratitude.
I was a 24 year old kid who wanted to write news when I first met the man who was already the most respected journalist in the Capital Region. When I left WNYT nearly 30 years later, I was still approaching every issue in the newsroom by thinking, “How would Ed have handled this?”
Like so many others who worked with him, I learned something every time we talked. Some of my favorite news memories are of those late nights when we got together to plan our coverage of the next day’s election. There were a lifetime of lessons in those discussions, which often ranged far from the subject at hand. There was nothing that did not excite his unending curiosity. He knew more about more things than anyone I knew.
Ed had many accomplishments in his life including his own career and the many careers he helped to make. I know however, that of all the things he did, he was most proud of his children. My best to you and your mother at this difficult time.

So sorry to read of Ed's passing. Such a talented man. I occasionally saw and spoke with him at the medical center in Wilton.Always articulate...always a gentleman. I enjoyed watching him not only read the news, but report intelligently. When he left the airwaves, there was a void left by his absence. Wishing him a safe journey to his new assignment. Can't imagine with whom he is now speaking. His pups , I am sure, greeted him with great joy that he finally arrived for hugs..and play.Thank you Ed Dague for sharing your intelligence and humor with us.
