Penny and I worked many, many years teaching the same students. We shared the same philosophy toward those academically challenged, so it was a great professional pleasure to work with her. Penny had very large expressive eyes which let each student know how much she believed in their being able to reach success. That belief endeared her to many of her students, as well as to me. I will always carry her openness, her heartiness in situations both professional and personal and her willingness to walk the extra mile. My sincerest condolences to her family and especially to her children Rachel and Alex, both of whom she loved very much. I shall always have Penny in my heart and mind. Mari Lou Hernandez
