Obituary of Marion F. Goldberg
Marion F. Goldberg, age 93 passed away peacefully at Ellis Hospital on Monday evening, October 14, 2013. Marion was born in Schenectady on April 24, 1920, and was the daughter of the late Isadore and Sara Finkelstein. She was a graduate of the Mt. Pleasant High School, class of 1938. Marion had been employed at the Mt. Pleasant Bakery from 1938-1950. She met her husband, Hymen Goldberg at Mt. Pleasant Bakery, when he asked for a dozen rolls, she gave him a baker's dozen, and they went together for 2 ½ years and then married. Marion worked at Nelson's Dress Shop in downtown Schenectady from 1965 to 1987. She was a longstanding member of the Beth Israel Synagogue in Schenectady and their sisterhood.
Marion was married to Hymen Goldberg until his passing in 2008. She is survived by 2 sons, Jules Goldberg and Steven P. Goldberg, both of Schenectady as well as a sister, Selma Sahr. She is also survived by 2 nephews and 3 nieces and predeceased by a sister, Esther F. Lessner in 2011 and a niece, Linda Sahr Weingarten in 1987.
Services at the Beth Israel Cemetery Chapel, Abbottsford Road (upper level section of the cemetery) in Rotterdam, NY on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 1:00pm.Interment will follow in the family plot at the Beth Israel Cemetery where Marion will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Hymen.
