Obituary of Lawrence Wayne

Lawrence Wayne, 87, of Schenectady, New York, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady after a long illness.   He was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 25, 1931 and was the son of the late Harry and Tillie Wayne. He moved to Schenectady in 1933 and remained a lifelong resident until his death. Larry was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School, Siena College and Albany Law School. He was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of New York and the Chief Clerk of the New York State Court of Claims, retiring in 1996. Larry enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, was an avid season ticket holding Siena Basketball fan, and not only enjoyed working on the New York Times Sunday Crossword puzzle but proudly completed it every week.

 

Larry is survived by Barbara Wayne, his loving wife of over 38 years, children Susan Giannetti, Dana Schaefer, Karen (Carl) Mattson, Jacqueline (Steve) Jewett, Steven (Shari) Wayne and Samantha (Michael) Nestor and 15 grandchildren as well as siblings, Arnold (Geri) Wayne and Linda (David) Frager. He was previously married to Renee Rudolph Wayne until her passing in 1975. He will be remembered as a kind and devoted husband, father and grandfather (Poppa).

 

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the wonderful and caring staff at Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center.

 

Services will be held at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue, Albany on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 11:00am. A private interment will immediately follow. The family will continue their period of mourning at Levine Memorial Chapel on Tuesday evening from 6-8pm.
