During the years, I grew to know Leah and I understood the impact of her family roots upon her personality and upon her feelings and her deeds. She was a lovely person; her loveliness spanned all her years, and her thoughtfulness was unbounded. She was blessed with many years, and yet it is sad to think that a person with such a totally lovely heart is no longer with us in the land of the living.
May Leah’s life along with her personality and character long inspire us as we continue in the land of the living.

We met and enjoyed the company of Leah and Abe Gaies through joint activities of Congregations Beth El and Berith Sholom in Troy. We then were fortunate to have renewed our acquaintance with Leah, a great conversationalist and an astute observer of the contemporary scene, during our visits to the Beverwyck Senior Community in Slingerlands. We share in Leah’s loss to her family and to the larger community to which she was such an active contributor for so many years. As noted in the obituary, Leah did, indeed, serve as a “model of living.”

I am Vera Teetsell Whitman and I had the pleasure and honor to work with your mom for many years at PinewoodsCenter as a teacher of the youngest students there. Your mom was always so gracious, understanding, and compassionate with not only our students and their families, but also with the staff at Pinewoods Center. She will be sorely missed by you and all who met and shared wonderful times with her. Deepest sympathy to all of the family.

Dear Family,
Leah was a special friend, not only to my mother, but also to me. She and mom watched over each other at Beverwyck and enjoyed dinner together often. They participated in all activities with enthusiasm. I feel so honored to have spent quality time with Leah, and she will continue to inspire me.

To Leah's friends and family - I just want to extend my sincere condolences on Leah's passing. She was a doll, she will be missed. I will never forget our long talks, both in person and on the phone. She & Abe were dear and beloved friends of Mary Havern (who I cared for). I would see Leah & chat with her long after Mary's passing, and Abe's passing. She invited me into her gorgeous apartment and we enjoyed talking about the news of the day. She was a lovely lady who I will always remember with a smile. God rest her beautiful soul. God bless you all. - Daniela Filmer
