My sincerest condolences to your family during this very difficult time. Harold was one of the first J24s I crewed on when I was 17 years old and I continued to sail with him for 2 seasons. His patience and kindness is the reason I was so compelled to sail with him. I feel very fortunate that our paths crossed at such an influential age as a continue to race on my own J24s today out of RYC. May the wind be at your back and the sun upon your face as you dance with the stars.

The VanWie and MacDonald family send our deepest sympathy to Harold's family. His friendship to my parents (Lew and Arlene) through the years sharing great parties and stories along with his dear caring for Dave and I have left very warm, grateful memories. Our thoughts go to Ralpha wishing her strength and peace along with each of his dear family members. It won't be the same in our neighborhood.

We laughed, we drank wine, we ate great meals, we lied to each other, we were friends. I will miss him.

As newcomers to Fair Haven 20 years ago, Harold was the first neighbor my husband and I met. Within that first roadside visit we knew Harold was going to be a lasting friend as he offered his help and his guidance to us rookies. It was the beginning of many fun filled gatherings and dinners out and bottles of wine and boat rides. We will forever miss him.

I first met Harold when, with his partner, Dick Cousins, they owned and operated Pharmacies in Central Square, East Syracuse and Minoa, NY.
Subsequently I worked on a part-time basis in the Minoa Pharmacy.
Harold was a gentleman. He had a wonderful sense of humor.
May his memory be for a blessing, always.
