Obituary of Jack Gordon

 

BRUNSWICK – Jack Gordon, 71, died peacefully at home on October 7 following a series of illnesses.

Jack was born July 28, 1947 in Germany. He was predeceased by his father Sholom (Sol) Gordon and his mother Leah Ginsburg Gordon Baruch, both Holocaust survivors. He is survived by his brother Frank Gordon, his wife Gail and their daughter Erin Dickerson.

Jack leaves behind his beloved wife, Fredricka (Ricky) Gordon. They were married on July 13, 1997.

He will be remembered fondly by his children: Matthew and Lori Christian and Kenneth Christian and Angie Martinez; and his step brother Izzy Baruch, his wife Sheila and their family; his aunt Judith Ginsburg and numerous cousins.

Above all, Jack cherished his granddaughter Gwenyth Christian, with whom he shared a special bond.

Jack graduated from Alfred State College of Technology and attended Ohio State University. Following in his father’s footsteps, he worked in agriculture his entire life, first as a dairy farmer and later as a livestock dealer and business owner.

Jack was known for his generosity and humor. He was devoted to his immediate family, his extended family and his friends. He was present for every milestone celebration and holiday, and would always go out of his way to lend a hand.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, October 11 at Beth Tephilah Cemetery, Spring Avenue, Troy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jack’s name may be made to: JDRF, 950 New Loudon Road, Suite 33, Latham, NY 12110 to support type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.
