Obituary of Barry E. Rosenblatt
Barry E. Rosenblatt, age 76 of Albany died on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Barry was the son of the late Sam and Ruth Rosenblatt. He was a lifelong Albany resident. For many years, Barry and his family were the owners and operators of the well-known Madison Theater in Albany. He was also involved in other family businesses, B&G Hardware and other movie theaters. Barry was a US Army Veteran and a former member of Temple Israel and Congregation Ohav Shalom both in Albany. He was a lover of nostalgic movie posters and had an extensive collection. Barry was also a classic car enthusiast and had a large collection of model cars. He enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races. His favorite pastime was spending time with his children and son-in-law. Barry will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.
Barry was predeceased in 2004 by his wife Roberta Ikler Rosenblatt. He is survived by his loving children, Andrea Rosenblatt- Lazarus and her husband David and Howard Rosenblatt both of Albany. Barry also leaves numerous family and friends, most especially Melvin and Elain Ikler and would like to thank themfor their many loyal years of friendship. A special thank you to Robin and Linda Rappaport for their kindness shown to Barry and his family over their many years of friendship. He also leaves behind his grand rabbit, Domino. Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue Albany on Sunday , September 23, 2018 at 12 noon. Interment will follow in the Ohav Shalom Cemetery on Church Road in Guilderland, NY. Those wishing to remember Barry in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital, 1270 Belmont Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12308. The family will be receiving guests at the home of Andrea Rosenblatt- Lazarus and David Lazarus,21 Tallmadge Avenue in Albany on Monday and Tuesday, September 24 and 25 from 1-3pm and 7-9pm
