I worked for Fred in the office the summer before I started law school. He paid me well. I should have paid him just for the entertainment of watching him operate.
When I started practicing law as a prosecutor, it was always good to see Fred in the local criminal courts or in family court.
He brought us great laughs and entertainment. Rest In Peace!

There was no attorney anywhere in the Albany area like Fred Ackerman. He truly loved his clients, as people first, and often gave financial breaks when he deemed it necessary for the welfare of his clients. A 10 minute appointment would often turn into an hour because he wanted to know how each person was doing who came to see him and he wanted to share how he was doing with his clients. He loved the law and practiced it with finesse and candor. Both of us will miss him, as he never forgot who we were, even after years and years of not seeing him. The legal community has lost a legend and we have lost a friend. You will be missed Fred.

Mrs. Ackerman,
I am sorry to read about Fred's passing. I was the Director of Athletics and Basketball Coach at the Milne School from 1960-1968. We hired Fred to coach the JV team during the 1965-66 school year while he was in law school. He did a great job and the kids loved him. Fred taught them well and some of those kids went on to play varsity. Fred played a big part in their development. I have many fond memories of our relationship Please accept my sincere condolences.

I spent hundreds of Sunday’s talking to Freddy about football.I never thought I would spend this Sunday talking about the loss of a friend I have known since I was a teenager. We obviously spoke about a lot more than just sports.Fred would always start the conversation by updating me on his morning visit to the jail to see his clients. If he was your lawyer, you not only had the hardest working advocate in the business, you also had a loyal friend.
The places we went...the stories I could tell are way too numerous to mention here.We just pray that he is in a better place with a front row seat for his Steelers.Fred was caring and generous in ways many will never know.
We will NEVER forget FSA....there will never be another.Love and deepest sympathies to Harriet,Pam,Sherry,Julie and all of the family that he was so proud of.......Char and Jeff

Fred had such a will to live..his strength and fortitude helped him overcome unbelievable health barriers, never ever giving up until his last breath. His pillar of strength through all of this was his amazing wife Harriet, who never left his side.
All our love to Harriet, their beautiful children and grandchildren, who were so loved by Fred. Our circle of friends grow smaller. Freddy will be greatly missed by all of us. We all loved him very much. Rest In Peace dearest friend.
