Obituary of Esther Louise Stern

Esther Louise Stern, 74, passed away August 26, 2013 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. Louise was born in Wilmington, Delaware on February 12, 1939, daughter of Norman and Esther Wright and was one of eight children. Louise, as she went by, was the "Eye Lady" for Lancôme in Macy's of Colonie Center for many years where she honed her artistic talent to beautify hundreds of people. Louise was also very talented in crafting and spent countless hours creating masterpieces out of ordinary objects. She loved cooking and entertaining her family. Louise married Sam Stern and together they raised four children. Louise's four children were the loves of her life along with numerous standard poodles and a bishon frise she owned over the years. While Louise was sick she made a firm rule of "no crying in her household" and instead only humorous stories were shared, of which there were many. Louise had a tremendous sense of humor and a flair for telling stories. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County for their brief but extremely compassionate care of Louise. Funeral will be graveside privately for family on Wednesday, August 28 and a celebration of Louise's life will be held at 52 Swatling Road, Latham, NY beginning at 3:30PM on the same day. Friends and family are welcome to attend. Louise is survived by her four children, Kip Kirby (Bev Betts) Clifton Park, Carrie Kirby Swiderski (Jeff Swiderski) of Savannah, GA, Kelly Inglis (Ed Inglis) of Wynantskill, and Becky Meyers (Mike Meyers) of Latham; five siblings: Bobby Wright, Dorothy Rodenhiser, Donald Wright, David Wright and Becky Mery; grandchildren Joshua, Justin, Derek, Kirby, Macey and Sammy, and five grand-dogs. Louise was predeceased by her husband Sam, her parents, brother Norman Wright and sister Betty Irwin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY, 12144 or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Albany, 5 Computer Dr. W, Suite 100, Albany, NY 12205.
