Albany – Robert L Freedman
On Monday, July 9, 2018 Robert completed his journey. Born on October 11, 1939 to the late Alford and Reba Levison Freedman. He was predeceased by his brother Paul.
Robert was a graduate of the Manlius School, attended The University of Buffalo and was a frater of Sigma Alpha Mu and graduated Sage Evening Division.
For more than 20 years, Robert managed 12 offices of Protective Loan Co., the family business. His second career for over 40 years was the Broker-Owner of RLF Realty.
Robert was a proud Albanian, American, and a tireless community volunteer. He was president of the Greater Capital Association of Realtors, President of CIREB, President of Daughters of Sarah, President of B’nai B’rith Gideon Lodge, #140, President of Upstate Council B’nai B’rith, President of B’nai B’rith Parkview Apartments, President of Chapel House at SUNYA and Advisor to Hillel at SUNYA.
Robert served on many boards throughout the years including NABA, AJCC, Temple Israel, United Way, NYSCAR, NYSAR, Community Foundation, Massry Residence and countless committees.
Robert’s past times included golfing with his buddies, being a Yankees fan and model railroading.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Elaine C.; devoted father of David S. (Susan) and Hope R. and POP-POP to his pride and joy Evan Gabriel. He is also survived by a nephew, Scott, and his family, and many loved and supportive cousins and friends.
Services will be at Temple Israel, 600 New Scotland Ave. Albany on Wednesday, July 11th at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in the family plot at Beth Emeth Cemetery, Turner Lane, Loudonville.
The period of mourning will be observed at the Freedman residence following the service of interment, commencing again from 7 to 9 PM Wednesday evening. Thursday from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM, Friday from 2 to 4 PM and Saturday evening from 7 to 9 PM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Daughters of Sarah, PANCAM, B’nai B’rith Hillel Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
