Obituary of Joan Paley
Joan Kushner Paley, 82 of Albany died on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. Joan was born in Kingston, NY where she resided from 1936 to 1941 at which time she moved to Albany. She had been employed at Congregation Beth Emeth for 42 years as the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director of the Temple. Joan was also a member of Congregation Beth Emeth and Temple Israel, both in Albany. She had been very active with Abigail and had served as a past president.
Joan was married to Joseph Paley until his passing in 1995. Loving Mother of Leon Paley and his wife Nancy of East Brunswick, New Jersey; grandmother of Ahuva, Yonah, Yael, Sarah and Joel Paley. She is also survived by her dear and loving friends, Jan and Alan Rubenstein and several nieces and nephews. She was pre deceased by her son, Michael Paley in 2006 as well as her brother, Allen Kushner.
Services at Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road in Albany on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 11:00am. Interment will follow in the Temple Israel Cemetery on Western Avenue in Guilderland, NY. The period of mourning will be observed at the Paley residence, 100 Dartmouth St. in Albany on Wednesday following the service of interment and on Thursday throughout the day and evening and on Friday until 12 noon.Those wishing to remember Joan in a special way may make a memorial contribution to Congregation Beth Emeth, The American Lung Association, 418 Broadway, Albany, NY 12207 or to a charity of one’s choice.
