Obituary of Harold Fischler

DELMAR, NEW YORK

FISCHLER

Harold Fischler, 91, of Delmar, died on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Harold graduated from New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn, where he met Edith, and then served two years of active duty in the Navy in World War II. He moved to Albany in 1951 to join a cousin in the construction business, and later worked for New York State, the U.S. Post Office, and the Albany County District Attorney.

Harold was an avid reader, who particularly enjoyed books about World War II history, and he had a keen interest in politics. He also loved sports, and was a devoted lifetime fan of the San Francisco Giants baseball team, for which he began rooting when they were the New York Giants. More than anything, Harold loved spending time with Edith and the rest of his family, whom he adored and who adored him in return.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Edith, the love of his life, their six children, Robert (Lori), Susan, David (Charlene), Cindy, Barbara (Mark) and Andy (MaryAnn). Harold also leaves 9  grandchildren, Joshua, Justin, Meredith, Benjamin, Lily, Mara, Lauren, Michael and Maci
