Obituary of Hilda Karoline Wuerzburger
Hilda K. Wuerzburger, 92, passed away in Pembroke Pines, Fl. on July 29, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She is predeceased by her husband Salo Wuerzburger, son Eric R. Wuerzburger and sister Ilse Sharlet. She is survived by her son Mark Wuerzburger and daughter in law Nancy Wuerzburger, grandchildren Tara Buntin (Scott) and Jake Henderson, and daughter in law Maureen Henderson (Bruce). She is also survived by her sister Rose Westheimer,brother in law Paul Westheimer, nieces and nephews; Carol and Kim Westheimer, Ruth Lipman, Philip and John Sharlet, and Briana Sharlet.
She was a person of great independence. Born in Germany,escaped the Nazis at age 17 under the auspices of a British program to accept German Jewish youth. She supported herself, met and married her husband Salo there. They emigrated to the US in 1950 to Carlisle, NY, where she operated a beauty parlor after the death of her husband in 1965. Later she moved to Florida where she worked for Dade County as a bookkeeper. After her retirement, she enjoyed music, traveling, visiting her grandchildren and keeping in touch with family and her friends. She will be greatly missed by many!
Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue Albany, NY on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 12 noon. Interment will follow in the Beth Israel Cemetery in Rotterdam, NY.. Evening service will be held Thursday @ 7:30PM at Rose & Paul Westheimer's residence. 255 Smith Road, Howes Cave,NY 12092.
