Obituary of Zelda Gisser
Zelda Gisser (nee Weiner), formerly of Albany, died on July 14 of complications of pneumonia, in Milwaukee, WI, where she had been living. She was born in Troy, NY. She attended the Albany Public Schools and Albany State Teachers' College. She was employed by the NYS Education Department in her early career.
She was a lifetime member of the National Council of Jewish Women, Hadassah and Brandeis National Women's Club. She was also a long-time member of Temple Israel, as well as Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Women's Club and a Patron member of United Order of True Sisters, Abigail #3.
Her husband, Dr. David G. Gisser, was a Professor Emeritus of Bio-Medical and Electrical Engineering at RPI. He died in 2000.
She is survived by a loving family: daughter, Marlene (Thomas Gaudynski) Gisser and granddaughter Kira, all of Milwaukee; brother Morris (Gladys) Weiner, sister Sarah ("Sue") Fox; and many nieces and nephew, and several great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 18 at 11:30 am, Temple Israel Cemetery, 1620 Western Avenue, Guilderland, NY. (Use entrance next to the Hana Japanese Restaurant). Shiva will follow immediately at Temple Israel, 600 New Scotland Avenue in Albany. Family and friends are invited.
