FLORENCE EINHORN
Florence Skolsky Einhorn, born January 29,1911, passed away on Monday evening, July 8. A beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt, she was 102 years old and an inspiration to all who knew her.
Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Anna and Samuel Skolsky of Peekskill, NY. Florence was married in 1935 to the late Dr. Marcus B. Einhorn who predeceased her in 1977.
Florence was a summa cum laude 1932 graduate of Russell Sage College, graduating as the class valedictorian. Upon her graduation, she received a full scholarship to New York University, earning a Masters in Retailing in 1934. Committed to lifelong learning, she was an avid reader who wrote and published her poetry. Her remarkable intellect was widely admired.
Florence was an active member of Congregation Beth Emeth for over seventy years, serving as the senior President of Sisterhood for many years. She was a regular participant at the weekly Torah Study Class.
Florence is survived by her daughter Annette Einhorn; her daughter Adele Einhorn and her husband James Slover; two grandchildren, Marc and Jessica Urdaneta; her great granddaughter Jennessey Cordero; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be a private graveside burial service for immediate family members at the Congregation Beth Emeth cemetery in Loudonville. On Wednesday, July 10, a memorial service for Florence will take place in the Van Cortlandt Room at the Beverwyck, 40 Autumn Road, Slingerlands, at 1:00 PM.
