Obituary of Lillian Leibman
Lillian Barash Leibman died peacefully on Saturday, May 18th surrounded by her family under the quiet, dignified and expert care of the staff at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany.
Lillian was born on December 13, 1920 in Albany to Max and Clara Barash. Upon the death of her mother she was lovingly cared for by her father and stepmother Gertrude.
After graduating from Albany High School, Lillian attended Mildred Elly Business School, becoming an expert and efficient executive assistant. She retired from the State University of New York in 1983.
In 1941 she married Raymond Leibman. Lillian followed Ray to Santa Monica during his World War Two service. They ultimately moved to and settled in Glens Falls where they raised their family and were active members of Temple Beth El. Lillian was a PTA mom and a Brownie Girl Scout leader. The family returned to Albany in 1961.
After retirement, Lil and Ray moved to Boca Raton, Florida where they continued an active life with old and new friends - music for Ray and bridge and book clubs for Lil. After 60 years of marriage and Ray's death in 2002, Lil returned to Albany to continue a full life of bridge and books once again rekindling old friendships and creating new ones at Beverwyck Retirement Community. Lillian always commented how blessed she was to have her whole family close by and cherished all the moments she spent with them.
Lillian was pre-deceased by her husband Raymond and her parents, stepmother, sister and brother. She is survived by her daughters Barbara (Robert) Rosoff of Glens Falls and Carol (David) Rosenthal of Latham as well as granddaughters Meredith Rosoff (partner Tia Chimiak) of Delmar, Sara (Daniel) Rice of Glens Falls, Jen (Jon) Michalski of Latham, Stefanie Rosenthal (William Brown) of Latham, and great-granddaughters Sofia and Mattea Rice.
