Obituary of Leo Fliegelman
Leo Fliegelman, age 95, of Boca Raton, Florida, longtime Albany resident and owner of the landmark, Leo's Bakery on Quail Street in Albany died on Sunday May 5, 2013, the day of his 95th birthday. Leo was born in Czechoslovakia, and in 1955 his family moved to Schenectady and later Albany. Leo's Bakery was established in 1964 and sold in 1987. In 1949 he married Hani Fliegelman whom he met in night school in Brooklyn. Leo was a member of Albany City Lodge # 540 Knights of Pythias,and a former member of Temple Israel. He and his wife Hani, were both Holocaust survivors
Leo was married to Hani Fliegelman until her passing in 2005. Father of Bill Fliegelman of Boca Raton, Florida, Susan Fliegelman of NYC and Renea Pollack (Larry) of Slingerlands, NY
Grandfather of Brian, Sidra, Jared and Daniel. Great grandfather of Oskar and Isla
Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue, Albany, NY on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 3:00pm. Interment will follow in the Temple Israel Cemetery in Guilderland, NY. Those wishing to remember Leo in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the Holocaust Museum, 100 Raoul Wallenberg Plaza S.W., Washington, DC, 20024.
