Obituary of Helen Weinberger

Helen Esther Weinberger, 89, passed away peacefully at around 1am Saturday, April 27. Helen Esther was born in Czechoslovakia and is a survivor of the Holocaust. She and her family emigrated to Brooklyn in 1958 after spending 10 yers in Israel. In addition to living in Albany, she spent winters in West Palm Beach. Helen Esther is survived by her only child, Martin Weber and his wife, Hana Panek; her two loving grandchildren, Julie Weber and Alexander Weber; brother Moshe Hartuv in Israel, and nieces and nephews and their families who reside in Brooklyn and Long Island. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 37 years, Ignatz Isaac who died in 1995; brother Mendel (Pearl) Herskovitz, sister Chaya, and 10 other siblings who perished in the Holocaust. She is also pre-deceased by her more than decade-long companion, Emil Sauerbreun (Soer). Helen Esther was an avid cook, and enjoyed playing cards and bingo, as well as occasional forays to Atlantic City.
