Obituary of Jason M. Burrick
Jason M. Burrick, age 75 of Albany, NY died suddenly on January 30, 2013 at the Albany Medical Center after being stricken at his residence. Born in Albany, Jason was a lifelong resident and graduated with honors from the Philip Schuyler High School in Albany. He had been the proprietor of the Albany Letter Service, a printing and mailing business from 1975 to 2005. He was later employed by the Durham School Services/Stock Transportation in Albany where he was the lead training and education coordinator and received his certification from NYS as a school bus driver instructor later becoming the safety supervisor for the bus company. Jason also received his certification as a certified examiner which included al retesting required by NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law. He had been appointed by the Governor of New York State to the NYS Comprehensive School Bus Driver Safety and Training Council and was a member of the NYS Commissioner of Educations SBDI Advisory Committee. Jason was also a member of the former Washington Masonic Lodge # 85 F&AM in Albany where he served as Past Master in 1974 and Secretary from 1995 -1998 and had been a member of Albany City Lodge # 540 Knights of Pythias. He had been active as a Manager and Coach from 1972-1986 at the National Little League and Central Babe Ruth in Albany. Jason had been the recipient in 2006 as well as in 2010 of the NYS School Bus Contractors Association, "Heart of the Industry Award" for activities above and beyond his assigned duties He was also a member of Congregation Beth Emeth in Albany.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Elaine Meyers Burrick, his children, Allison Warzala and her husband Martin of Somerset, NJ, Todd Burrick and his wife Andrea of West Simsbury, Ct and Adam Burrick and his wife Stacy of Westfield, NJ. Brother of Bertha Kotlow of Albany and Shirley Reigelhaupt of Boca Raton, Florida. Brother-in-law of Bernice Burrick of Albany, Barbara Heft of Warren, NJ and Bernice Karp of Albany. Son in law of Irene Meyers of Albany, NY. Grandfather of Rachel and Jared Warzala, Daniel, Sara, Max, Aaron, Hannah, Olivia and Noah Burrick. Jason also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, David Burrick.
Services at Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road in Albany on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 1:00pm. Interment will follow in the Beth Emeth Cemetery in Loudonville, NY. The period of mourning will be observed at the Burrick residence, 170 Hollywood Avenue in Albany on Saturday evening and on Sunday commencing at 2pm. Those wishing to remember Jason in a special way may make a memorial contribution to Congregation Beth Emeth.
