Obituary of Beatrice F. Feluren

Beatrice F. Feluren 86 of East Greenbush, NY, former resident of Scotia, NY died on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Born in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Edith and Nathan Taradash. Beatrice married the late A David Feluren who passed in 1976. The couple resided in Saratoga before moving to Scotia in January of 1948. She was a member of Congregation Beth Israel in Schenectady and had been employed by the Schenectady Board of Education. Bea took pride in many things, she loved to cook and entertain; she loved to show off her beautiful home, where everyone was family. Beas first love was always her family. You would be hard pressed to find a woman who took more pride in her family, their successes and happiness. Bea was predeceased by her beloved daughter Barbara, however is survived by her grandchildren, Debbie(Joe), Andy(Amy), Mike(Michelle). She is also survived by daughter Judith (Doug) and grandson David. Her granddaughter Debbie, husband Joe and her great grandson Joey were closest to her in her later years. A close family friend said it best, "We were lucky to have each other". That sentiment could not have been truer. They were inseparable, the best of friends, they took care and looked out for each other. Every lesson that Bea had learned from her parents, she passed on. Every beloved recipe from chicken soup to chopped liver, she shared. She wanted them to be passed on for generations to come. She emphasized the value of an education and ensured her loved ones received one. Bea was selfless, yet set the bar high. She made her expectations known and expected you to live up to them, hoping in fact you would surpass them. She was an independent thinker; a woman of strong conviction and would never back down if she believed in something. She was a blessing and best friend. Our lives will forever be better because of her love. Her family will continue to spend each day making her proud, being a mensch, and making a difference. Bea and her family would like to extend the utmost appreciation to the staff at Hawthorne Ridge, the Alzheimer's unit, especially the RA's who took such wonderful care of her.
