Dear Brad and Family, My sincere condolences on the loss of your Dad. I was his office receptionist 1962-1964 and again in May of '65 when I returned to Middletown while my new husband was headed to Vietnam; the position was still open, so I worked for him for another 9 months. His entire office staff was treated to a play in NYC and a day on the boat! I did not remember that he attended Syracuse University and that is where we now live. He was an amazing man! The wonderful memories of your Dad will sustain you. Sincerely, Judy (Loderhose) Nicholson

Dear Dr. Jack,
You saved my young life when no one else was paying attention. Then you took that life and guided it toward a noble career path that allowed me to explore the beauty, depth and significance of basic scientific research, inspiring me to help others in some meaningful way. I married and raised a family, none of which would have been possible without you. Later on in my life, you once again exercised extraordinary means to save my dad, and because of your refusal to give up the fight for his survival, my family was able to keep this incredibly brilliant and sweet man with us for another 26 years. What gifts you had, and how selflessly you gave them! You are still an entity, unique unto yourself and wholly unforgettable, and the lessons you have taught us, the standards you have raised, will forever remain with all who knew you well.
Love,
Debra

Did not know Dr. Ruthberg. However, such a life of accomplishment and service deserves recognition. If only most of us would be so fortunate as to have a mere fraction of the talent and dedication of this man, the world would be a far greater place. You, the family, must be extremely proud and at the same time sad to have lost such an accomplished person, father, son, husband and a soul who made a real difference. Jack, I salute you !! Sincerely, Bob Scharg
