Obituary of Joseph Klein

Joseph Klein, 97, of Boynton Beach, FL passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 27, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; his son, David Klein of Pittsford, NY and Bonita Springs, FL; his daughter, Ruth Klein of Bradenton, FL; two grandsons, Randy (Janette) of Brooklyn, NY and Alexander (Rachel) of Madison, CT; and three great-grandchildren (JP, Erin and Leo). He is predeceased by his parents, Harry and Pauline Klein of Schenectady, NY and his brother, Raymond of Albany, NY. Joe married Sandy in 1944 following his discharge from the Navy. One could not find a man more in love with a woman than Joe was with Sandy. After marrying, Joe and Sandy moved to Schenectady, NY where Joe was born and had grown up. In 1946, they founded and then together successfully managed until 1969, the Klein Pharmacy in Albany, NY. He organized the New Scotland Avenue Merchants Association. After selling Klein Pharmacy, he worked in Albany as a dispensing pharmacist for other independent pharmacies until his retirement in 1983. Joe and Sandy became Floridians in 1995. In retirement, Joe added religious community to his pursuits. He successfully led an effort to create a Hebrew School at Temple Emeth in Delray Beach and was a founder of Temple Torah in Boynton Beach. A memorial service for Joe was held in Florida on Tuesday. Services at the Beth Abraham Jacob Cemetery, Western Avenue, Guilderland, NY on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 12 noon. Kindly do not send flowers.
