Obituary of Shirley Flasterstein
Shirley Flasterstein, 92 of Albany died on Saturday September 29, 2012 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in NYC, Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband, Maurice in 2006. They were married for 62 years at the time of his passing. Shirley had been employed as an executive secretary for New York State for various commissioners in several departments. She was a member of Congregation Beth Meth for more than 50 years and was active with their sisterhood. She was also a member of the Daughters of Sarah Auxiliary and Hadassah as well as the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center Shirley had been the recipient of the YES Award presented by the Sisterhood of Congregation Beth Emeth.
Shirley is survived by her loving children, Ellen Reohr of Albany and Dr. Frank Flasterstein (Elaine) of Daytona Beach, Florida. Sister of Helen Kaplan (the late Philip) of NYC. Cherished grandmother of Melissa Reohr of Boston, Massachusetts, David and Adam Flasterstein, both of Daytona Beach. Shirley was predeceased by her brothers, Jack and Morton Bach. Aunt of David Kaplan (Jackie) of Delmar, NY, and Barbara Rosenthal of NYC. She also leaves behind several loving friends.
Services will be held at the Mendleson Chapel, located on the grounds of the Beth Emeth Cemetery on Turner Lane in Loudonville, NY on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 11:00. Interment will follow in the Flasterstein family plot. Those wishing to remember Shirley in a special l way may make a memorial contribution to Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road, Albany, NY 12208 or Community Hospice, 445 New K arner Road, Albany, NY 12205. The family will be receiving visitors at 9 Prospect Terrace in Albany on Tuesday following the funeral service and on Wednesday from 7-9pm. . Shirley's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital for the care shown to our family during her stay.
