Obituary of Stewart Kaskel
Dr. Stewart A. Kaskel, 87 of East Greenwich, Rhode Island, former longtime Albany, NY resident and well known oral surgeon died on Thursday September 20, 2012 at the St. Lukes Hospital in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Stewart was born in the Bronx on July 6, 1925 and grew up in Albany. He was a graduate of the Albany High School, Union College of Pharmacy, and the NYU School of Dentistry and did his residency at the George Washington University Hospital. Dr. Kaskel was very proud of his service to the United States and served in the Navy during World War II. He was an oral surgeon in Albany starting in 1952 and practiced for more than 50 years. He was a devoted husband and family man, who loved his children and grandchildren and was never too busy for his family. He also had a love for dogs and animals in general. Dr. Kaskel enjoyed bowling very much in the Albany City League for many years. He also loved playing golf with his children on weekend afternoons and especially with his wife, Marylinne with the "Chippers and Putters" Friday night league at the Shaker Ridge Country Club. Stewart was an avid sports fan and has a special love for, the New York Yankees, the New York Giants and the New York Knicks. He was an audio/video aficionado.
Dr. Kaskel is survived by his loving children, Rick Kaskel (Jennifer Boyd), Ira Kaskel (Jill) and Dean Kaskel (Lorrie) and a cherished group of grandchildren, Justin, Miriam, Matthew, Ashley, Zachary, Carl, Jacquelyn and Jaime..He also leaves nieces and nephews. Dr. was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Marylinne Kaskel and a brother, Dr. David Kaskel and his wife Judy.
Services at the Mendleson Chapel, located on the grounds of the Beth Emeth Cemetery on Turner Lane in Loudonville, NY Monday September 24, 2012 at 11:00am. Interment will follow in the family plot in the Beth Emeth Cemetery.. Those wishing to remember Dr. Kaskel in a special way may make a memorial contribution to COPD Foundation, 2937 S.W. 27th Avenue, Suite 302, Miami, Florida 33133.
