Obituary of David Facher Iselin
Iselin, David WASHINGTON, D.C. The world lost a loving and courageous soul when David Facher Iselin died unexpectedly from cardiac arrest on March 3, 2018. David was born on March 10, 1989, the first son of his loving parents, Lauren and Harold. He attended Bethlehem schools and spent many summers at Camp Skylemar in Maine. David was active in the Congregation Beth Emeth youth group and served as an officer. In 2011, David graduated from Vassar College. While there, he was a member of his house team and co-chaired the senior gift campaign. As a co-chair, David was privileged to speak at the commencement - an honor of which he was quite proud. Following graduation, David worked in a series of jobs in Washington, D.C., before attending American University Business School from which he graduated in 2017. At the time of his death, David was working as the business development manager for Destination DC. David faced much adversity in his short life. He suffered from Crohn's disease and a rare kidney ailment. David faced his health challenges with courage and good spirit. He never let his ailments get him down and he maintained an optimistic and cheerful attitude. He persevered and was always a wonderful son and big brother as well as a loyal friend. Always thoughtful of others and mindful of his own health issues, David donated his organs to those in need. In 2015, David met his soulmate, Abby Himmelrich. Abby and David were a perfect fit, and her family welcomed David with open arms. David and Abby were busy planning their future together even on the day that David died. Abby's family welcomed David into their family and he loved being part of it. David is survived by his parents, Lauren and Harold; his loving brothers, Alex and Michael; his grandfather, Alan Iselin; his loving aunts, Gayle, Joanne and Marcy; his cousins, Sam, Max, Corey (Jamie), Justin (Maggie) Dana, Julia, Evan (Chrissy), Glenn (Jenn) and Dana (Rob); as well as by Abby and her loving family. David was adored by his grandparents, Barbara Iselin and Lois and Marvin Facher; and his aunt, Linda Richards and his uncle, John Engel, who predeceased him.
Services will be held at Congregation Beth Emeth on Tuesday, March 6, at 12:30 p.m. Prior to the service, David's family has requested privacy and will not be receiving.. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in memory of David to the Congregation Beth Emeth CBEYG Fund in Albany.
