Lois and children,
Dave will be missed by dozens of people you have never heard of or will ever hear from; because he touched sooo many lives….Dozens and dozens of little tiny moments that he gave to people because he cared. He was truly a people person. A politician, yes; but a real caring human being…yes to that. And that was the key to Dave….he was human; and if you showed him honesty and sincerity, you made a match with him. He had visions that he materialized into actions and along the way he had his ups and downs…pluses and minuses. That’s the way it is for people of action. I worked with Dave on a Professional basis for many years and was lucky enough on a few occasions to be in his company for more leisurely events. He truly was a gentleman. I have never had a negative thought about Dave, and so many positive ones. As we go through our lives, we all should be so lucky to meet people like him.
Love you Lois for taking such good care of him.
You are missed, Dave.

Lois, my condolences to you and Davis's sons and daughter for your loss. What fun we all had in the 1980's and 1990's at all of those galas, balls and fundraisers in the Albany/ Schenectady area and up in Saratoga. Davis was a powerhouse with a lot of personal style. Men like Davis are few and he will be missed.

Our deepest sympathies and condolences to Lois, their children and grand children at this sad time.
I had the pleasure of working for Davis for 23 years. The man was a visionary and a pioneer and due to his persistence created Schenectady Off Track Betting which grew into a 17 county regional entity that gave millions of dollars to Schenectady, the other participating counties, the horsemen, breeders, racetracks and the State of NY. In addition there were as many as 800 jobs throughout the region, leases for betting parlors, purchase of local goods and services as well as sponsorships of individual county events. When OTB first came into being the races closed for wagering 15 minutes to post, food or beverage were prohibited as well as rest rooms and seating and there was actually no loitering. Through Davis' persistence that was all changed over the years to the point of creating the OTB Tele-theater in Albany a showplace 1000+ seat dining/banquet and racing facility simulcasting live racing from around the country.
Davis also brought a world class tennis tournament with free admission to Schenectady something that has yet to be matched locally.
We can only hope his community will remember and appreciate all of the good things he accomplished. May he rest in peace and his memory be eternal!
